The 28th Olympic Scientific Congress of Young Scientists and Students from Russia: ‘Olympism, the Olympic Movement, and the Olympic Games’

06 February 2017

On 1-2 February 2017, the 28th Olympic scientific congress of young scientists and students from Russia: Olympism, the Olympic Movement, and the Olympic Games was held with the support of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation at the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism. The scientific congress was organized by the Olympic Committee of Russia and the Central Olympic Academy.

The main goals of the congress were to stimulate the scientific research projects of students and young scientists, to better the teaching process, to encourage inventive and gifted youth, and to develop the recruitment potential of research projects in the Olympic Movement.

This year, the session was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Soviet Olympic Academy.

The all-Russian round of the congress was attended by undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young scientists—the victors of the university and regional rounds. In total, the all-Russian round saw the presentation of 46 reports.

In the words of Vladimir Sengleev, the executive director of the Russian Olympic Committee, “the congress provided a lot of valuable information that can be applied successfully in the future.”

“I would like to note that the projects that we became acquainted with were diverse and many of them are of an applicable nature. This is very valuable. Students aren’t just examining the Olympic values and ideals, but they analyze them and apply their knowledge in practical spheres,” noted Vladimir Sengleev.

The future participants of the 57th International Olympic Academy in Olympia (Greece) were chosen during the congress.

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation has been a partner of the Russian Olympic Committee since 2014.
