Sunshine Kingdom performed for orphans in the Kursk Region

02 April 2014

On March 25-27, during spring holidays, the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation arranged a tour to children’s care institutions in the Kursk Region by the theatre troupe “Ya”.

The musical play, Sunshine Kingdom, is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Rumpelstilzchen and was shown to the pupils of Novoandrosovo Children’s Home, Verhniy Lyubazh Residential School, Oktyabrskaya Residential School, and Kursk Residential School No.2.

Together with the actors, the young spectators embarked on an exciting journey to the Sunshine Kingdom, met its inhabitants, the king, the queen and even the cunning underground troll. And in the end they managed to persuade the malicious troll to return the kingdom its stolen sun.

While the actors were preparing for the play, the children were also busy creating, taking part in The Cook-Magician master class, in which they learned to paint and decorate gingerbread cookies.

The master class and the play were a pleasant surprise for the children during their spring break from lessons. For the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation organising such events is a regular practice, as supporting Russian children’s care institutions is one of the most important aspects of the Foundation’s work.
