Sergey Bezrukov Presented his New Film, After You, in Orenburg

02 September 2016

The new film After You, directed by Anna Matison, was screened at the International Film Festival “East & West. Classic and Avant-Garde” with the support of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation on 1 September 2016 in Orenburg. The film was presented by its general producer and lead actor, Sergey Bezrukov.

Students of the Orenburg State Institute of Arts named after L. and M. Rostropovich, young actors from Orenburg theatres, as well as the directors and members of dance groups were invited to the special non-competition screening of the film at the Sokol Cinema in Orenburg.

The production of the film was completed in April 2016. Before its premiere in Orenburg, the film was only screened once — at the Kinotavr Film Festival.

The film was produced by Production Value WorldWide and Sergey Bezrukov’s Film Company with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Film Fund, and the Mariinsky Theatre.

The film tells the life story of ballet dancer Alexei Temnikov. “Fate has treated my character very badly. As a result of an injury, his brilliant career as a ballet dancer was destroyed. Being forced to live in a provincial town and work as the head of a local ballet school, he retained the idea of directing a large ballet throughout the years. He is a very strong man. The task he set for himself cannot be fulfilled by an ordinary person, but my character, Alexei Temnikov, was born to be a winner,” said Sergey Bezrukov during a press conference in Orenburg.

Other actors who participated in the film include Anastasia Bezrukova, Vladimir Menshov, Alyona Babenko, Karina Andolenko, Sergei Gazarov, and Vitaly Egorov. Valery Gergiev, the artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre, who played himself, also participated in the film. The dance episodes were directed by choreographer Radu Poklitaru.
