“Check-in Polyani” – third offline meeting of the “A Future with Confidence” project

From 6 to 18 July, 2015, during the summer school holidays, the Polyani resort complex (Rublevo- Zvenigorodsky Health Complex of the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation) held an in person meeting of the participants of the “A Future with Confidence” project.

“Check-in Polyani” is the third such meeting of the project. Previous meetings were held in Anapa (November 2014) and Zheleznogorsk (March 2015).

At the “Check-in Polyani” meeting the children’s homes and residential schools of the Belgorod, Vologda, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Moscow and Orel regions got together. An extensive programme was awaiting them.

The main emphasis was put on master classes. Through Yaroslav Zhalnin, who played the lead role in “Gagarin: First in Space”, the guys found out about the skill of acting and the art of improvisation. Superjob.ru’s business coach Olga Demakova told them how to effectively use modern methods and resources to search for a job, draw up a professional CV and participate in a professional interview in the proper manner. Dmitry Bogachev, the commercial director of Dreamheads, led the “Digital Professions” master class for children, aspiring toward a life in IT. They discussed the development of a modern IT-society in Russia and the rest of the world, as well as new popular trends in the industry and opportunities for young people’s self-fulfillment Fans of dance met with Irina Povoroznyuk, a choreographer at “Russia TV” and “First Channel” (Russian TV channels). Football fans met with representatives of the Russian youth national football team of 1998, players of Dynamo FC (Moscow) Nikita Kalugin, Alexander Schegolkov and Anton Antonov.

The programme also included a number of specific educational events.

The Bulgakov House Museum and Theatre Troupe came specially to the Polyani resort complex to meet with the participants of the meeting. It performed the play, You Cannot Be Here, based on the novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, by John Boyne. The plot centres on difficult war years and urges to turn to humanistic ideals.

The leaders of “A Future with Confidence” (the most active participants based on the results of 2015) visited the country’s main university — Moscow State Lomonosov University. The children were given a tour of the main building of the Moscow State University, where they were told about the traditions of the University and were shown the Museum of Earth Sciences.

One of the days was totally dedicated to a tour of the capital: a fascinating journey along the Moscow River with visits to the main attractions awaited the children. Many of them were visiting Moscow for the first time. The highlight of the trip was the launch into the sky of 100 balloons with the symbolic phrase of the project, “A Future with Confidence”, which has brought together more than 100 children from 13 social institutions in 8 different regions of Russia.

The visit of Sati Kazanova, an honoured artist of the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, Adygea and Kabardino-Balkaria, was a special event. Sati got acquainted with the children through Internet during The Game Called “Life” webinar. During the webinar the singer shared the secrets of her success with the children, personal recipes for gaining confidence in oneself and one’s future. This time a responding performance was given by the participants of the “Check-in Polyani” meeting. The children dedicated a concert to Sati.
