ART-OKNO Arts Festival Opens with Presentations of the Kinopoeziya Project in the Belgorod and Kursk Regions

06 March 2017

In Spring 2017, the ART-OKNO Arts Festival was founded by the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation with the aim of developing unhindered cultural dialogue between Russia’s regions and cultural centres. The festival opened with presentations of the Kinopoeziya educational project.

On 1 March, a Kinopoeziya poetry evening was held at the Centre for Youth Initiatives in Stary Oskol, Belgorod region. On 2 March, the projected was presented to an audience at the “Forum” Culture Centre in Gubkin, Belgorod region. In the Kursk region, a presentation of Kinopoeziya was held on 3 March at the Mikhailovsky GOK Centre of Culture and Technology in Zheleznogorsk.

The evenings included screenings of poetic mini-films created as part of the Kinopoeziya project, based on the poems “On the hills of Georgia ...” and “I loved you ...” by A. Pushkin, “Earth” by B. Pasternak, “In my huge city...” and “An attempt at jealousy” by M. Tsvetaeva, “Good bye, my friend...” by S. Yesenin, and “A violin and a little bit nervous” by V. Mayakovsky. Additionally, live readings of classical Russian poetry were held from the stage by the artistic director and author of the project Anatoliy Belyy, the film and theatre actress, and laureate of the “Window to Europe” International Film Festival Agniya Kuznezova, and the Moscow Art Theatre actress Yulia Chebakova.

“It is a huge honour for us to open the ART-OKNO regional arts festival. Our project is aimed, first of all, at the youth, to make sure that children enter the world of poetry in a familiar manner—by seeing and hearing. The project has already been successfully implemented in several schools in Moscow. The goals of the poetic mini-films are to emotionally capture people, to give them a vaccination of culture, which will subsequently bring them to the original source—the book—and to their immersion into poetry,” said Anatoliy Belyy when speaking to the press.

The Kinopoeziya project was launched in the spring of 2016. With the help of professional film directors, actors, musicians, and prominent cultural figures, the project produces short films based on the works of classical and contemporary Russian poetry.

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation is a partner of the Kinopoeziya project.
