Special View on MEGOGO Video Service for People with Visual Impairment
Megogo, which has created the largest media library of films with audio descriptions in Russian by 2019, grants the right to place 204 movies in the “Audio Description Cinema” of the “Special View” web-portal during the year. In addition, ten presentations of films with audio descriptions will be held at the Integration Centre of the Moscow Region until September 1, 2019.
“For us, the joint project with MEGOGO, the largest online video service, is an important step towards creating an integrated base of films with audio descriptions, both Russian and foreign ones. For 5 years of implementation of the ‘Special View’ program, the Foundation has managed to achieve significant results, in particular, to increase the number of highly-qualified specialists and raise the awareness of the problems of blind and visually impaired people, and, as a result, to increase the level of public involvement in solving specific tasks aimed at improving the quality of life of visually impaired people. We are grateful to the partners for this important initiative and empathic attitude towards the development of inclusive socio-cultural environment in our country”, said Maria Melnichenko, program director of the Alisher Usmanov’s “Art, Science and Sport” Charity Foundation.
Victor Chekanov, General Director of MEGOGO Russia, stated, “We at MEGOGO strive to make our content available to as many viewers as possible. We are sure that visually impaired and blind people should have wide access to all feature content. Our partnership with the Alisher Usmanov’s ‘Art, Science and Sport’ Foundation is another important step in this direction.”
