Novotroitsk speech therapy department gets new equipment

07 February 2013

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation provided the support to purchase new logopaedic equipment for the speech therapy department of the Novotroitsk Center for Social Assistance to Families and Children.

The Foundation also took on the cost to train a local speech therapy specialist to work with this innovative equipment. The Centre’s new equipment helps to eliminate speech defects in patients with impaired hearing, speech, articulation and their musculoskeletal system. Treatment with this equipment helps develop the areas used to articulate speech, coaches proper (diaphragmatic) breathing and the ability to control the respiratory muscles.

According to the Centre’s Speech Therapist, Svetlana Kikteva, after a month of training, in the form of a game, young patients already show good progress. Classic speech therapy methods can sometimes only yield results after a very long time.
