The grand opening of the Orsk State A.S. Pushkin Drama Theatre was held on September 4, 2014. The walls were the only structures that survived the buildings’ reconstruction. Today it is a modern, beautiful building, comparable with the best theatres in the country in terms of technology, interior quality and level of comfort.

The new theatre also holds four cafes, a passenger elevator for people with disabilities, video surveillance systems, conference and business rooms, and a heated floor in the lobby. The area around the theatre was brightened with a musical fountain as well as stylised lanterns and sculptures.
It took three years to complete all the renovations. The project was delayed at the intermediate stage due to the lack of funding. The replacement of all the buildings’ utilities — from water supply and heating to fine finishes, stage equipment and a new roof and facade design — was able to continue with the support of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation.
Maria Krasnikova, director of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation said: “I really hope the city’s and the region’s theatre traditions will flourish. I wish the theatre staff boundless energy and receptive audiences and that every play becomes a grand event, remembered for a lifetime and leaving strong, vivid emotions and answers to eternal questions.”
The Orsk Drama Theatre is the only large venue in East Orenburg. The reopening after reconstruction was eagerly awaited by the residents of several cities: Orsk, Novotroitsk and Gai. The new theatre season in Orsk Drama starts in
