Presentation of “Artists of the Murzilka Magazine. 1924-2013”

On September 24, 2013, the Russian State Children’s Library in Moscow hosted the annual directors meeting of children’s and youth libraries. On this day, librarians from across the country discussed the issues of children’s reading and children’s literature, talking about the challenges and prospects in the sector.

The meeting included the presentation of the new art album Artists of the Murzilka Magazine. 1924-2013 released by the editorial staff of „Murzilka” with support of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation.

At the presentation the сhief editor of „Murzilka”, Tatiana Androsenko, shared the story of how this unique book was created with the other librarians. Friends and long-standing contributors to „Murzilka”, artist Victor Chizhikov and author Marina Moskvina, spoke about their work at the magazine.

The publication of this book is a significant event for children’s libraries. Now they will have an opportunity to introduce young readers to the history of the legendary „Murzilka” Magazine, the culture and characteristics of the formation of illustrations in children’s literature.
