Stary Oskol Children’s Home presented with a unique touchscreen table

03 December 2014

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation installed a unique touchscreen table for interactive study in the children’s home of Stary Oskol, in the region of Belgorod, on November 22, 2014.

Initially, the new equipment was supposed to be a surprise dedicated in honour of International Children’s Day. But since the Foundation hosted the “Russian Ice Hockey Legends for the Children of Stary Oskol” charity event on November 21 — 22, it was decided to combine these two events and to organise a special day for children by inviting the Olympic champions to the unveiling of the touchscreen table and to conduct an “Olympic class” as well as awarding young athletes with diplomas.

The event was attended by two-time Olympic hockey champions Boris Mikhailov and Boris Mayorov, Olympic hockey champions Viktor Shalimov, Vasily Pervukhin and Ilya Byakin and Olympic silver medalist, two-time world champion Alexander Golikov led by three-time Olympic fencing champion, thirteen-time world champion Galina Gorokhova.

The honoured guests and foster children explored the device’s capabilities and found that, in addition to traditional content (playing musical instruments, painting, traveling through the universe, etc.), the table’s interface was, for the first time, supplemented with an exclusive feature — a complete dossier on all the athletes that attended the charity event.

The feature created by the equipment developers specially for the Foundation operates as follows: you select the hockey player you are interested in on the virtual arena, touch the screen and instantly get comprehensive information on the athlete, including his achievements and titles, in a text, video or audio file.

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation had previously installed touchscreen tables in children’s homes and residential schools in the regions of Kaluga, Kursk and Lipetsk.
