A new social care institution joins the Foundation’s Assistance Program for Children’s Social Services Institutions

10 April 2013

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation is now collaborating with the Lipetsk Residential School for Visually Impaired Children.

Starting from March 2013, the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation has been regularly supporting and sponsoring a regional, special-care, educational institution for visually impaired children in the town of Lipetsk.

The partnership, which is just over a month old, has already been very fruitful: during a visit by the Foundation’s team, on 9 April 2013, the Headmaster Igor Batishchev was handed a certificate for 5 million roubles, to be spent both on renovating the existing facilities as well as constructing some new ones.

Among the key infrastructure problems at the institution is the poor state of its canteen, which was designed just for 50 people, when the actual total number of pupils is over 500. The new canteen will be able to accommodate all the students at the School and will be equipped with modern facilities. It will be moved to a new building, which is already under construction. This building will also be used as a new gym, with a swimming pool and dance hall.

Financial aid was not the only reason for the recent visit of the Charity Foundation’s team to Lipetsk. The Foundation also brought the pupils surprises and gifts. The Residential School’s library received a series of books with poems by Samuil Marshak, designed specifically for children with visual disabilities, published by the Regional Public Charitable Organization “Illustrated Books for Blind Children” — a project also sponsored by the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation.

In addition, the junior pupils attended a children’s party with professional animators.
