10 April 2014

On 27-28 March, 2014, a delegation from MGIMO University, sponsored by the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation, attended the 55th Convention of the International Studies Association in Toronto, Canada.

Over the last decades, ISA conventions have served as the main platform for discussions on the latest evolving trends in the global environment and their theoretical understanding. This is an open forum, attended by the most authoritative experts in the field of international relations and geopolitics from all over the world.

In the year of its seventieth anniversary, MGIMO sent a large delegation of more than 10 people to Toronto. The event’s main theme was the subject of “Spaces and Places. Geopolitics in an Era of Globalization”, and brought together more than a thousand researchers who conducted about 400 sectional and round table conferences.

MGIMO delivered presentations by professors and teachers, and presented English-speaking programmes in the framework of the scientific and educational exhibition of the Convention. The University’s booth also featured materials dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the University.

During the Convention the MGIMO delegation met with renowned American political scientists and internationalists, T. Volgy and W. Thompson, where they reached a principle agreement for these eminent American scientists to hold a series of lectures and seminars at the university in Moscow.

The participation of MGIMO in the 55th ISA Convention is one among a series of events supported by the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation in the year of the University’s 70th birthday.
