The 8th Moscow Festival of Science Successfully Concludes

On October 13, 2013, the 8th Moscow Festival of Science, a key partner event to the 3rd Russian National Festival of Science, drew to a successful conclusion.

The 3rd National and 8th Moscow Festival of Science were organised by the Moscow City Government, represented by the Moscow Department of Science, Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and the Moscow State Lomonosov University.

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation became a non-profit partner of the 8th Moscow Festival of Science and of the Central Regional Platform of the National Festival of Science in the regional capital of Kursk.

The result of the Festival, whose motto was “Science 0 + Science For All”, was the participation of an ever increasing number of adults and children in science. In 2013, the Festival of Science comprised 2,000 activities at more than 90 sites in Moscow. The audience was offered an extensive program: the largest exhibitions took place in the Shuvalov Wing of Moscow State University and at the Expocentre, as well as numerous research presentations, professional workshops, film screenings, lectures and even a teleconference of several Nobel laureates with the International Space Station!

According to preliminary estimates, around 600,000 people visited the 8th Moscow Festival of Science in 2013 (including online viewers).

The events of the 8th Moscow Festival of Science concluded the 3rd Russian National Festival of Science, which in 2013 took place in more than 70 regions of Russia.

Over 600 organisations participated in the 3rd Russian National Festival of Science. Among them: universities and academies, museums, research centres and other scientific organisations. The Festival featured more than 5,000 science-themed events. More than 1.5 million people visited the Festival’s events throughout the country.

3rd St. Petersburg International Legal Forum

Representatives of 63 countries participated in the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, which was held from 15 to 18 May 2013. Present at the event were 25 official delegations, headed by their countries’ ministers and deputy ministers, including from the Netherlands, Hungary, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Egypt and Kazakhstan. Also in attendance at the Forum this year were over 2,500 lawyers, researchers, business and government representatives.
