Participation in International Conference of Volunteering Researchers

From May 29 to 30, 2018, the third international conference “Research of Volunteering: Trends, Interdisciplinary Context, Formation of Professional Community and Prospects of International Integration” took place on the basis of the National Research University — Higher School of Economics, the partner of which was the project “To My Future” implemented by the “Art, Science and Sport” Charity Foundation.

The project “To My Future” was launched in 2013 by Alisher Usmanov’s “Art, Science and Sport” Charity Foundation with the aim of social adaptation and vocational guidance of teenagers who find themselves in a difficult life situation, by holding workshops, webinars, creative competitions and quests, meetings with mentors and off-site events. The project prepares teenagers for independent living and choosing the future area of professional activity.

“To My Future” is the way to make your dreams come true. For the five years of the project’s existence, the dream team has united more than 3,000 participants from 60 childcare facilities in 23 regions of the Russian Federation. Moreover, in 2016, the project “To My Future” was awarded a diploma of the 4th Annual Program “The Best Social Projects of Russia” of the “Social Projects” Foundation in the nomination “Projects in Support of Socially Vulnerable People”.

During the conference, various sessions devoted to volunteer activities were held, and the world’s leading experts and researchers from near and far abroad spoke. The conference became a place for a lively dialogue not only among researchers of volunteering, but also among practitioners in the field of NPOs.

During the section “The Best Practices of Volunteering as an Empirical Basis of Research”, Karina Fatullayeva, the manager of the project “To My Future”, noted the importance of participation of the project and the “Art, Science and Sport Foundation” in the international conference, “Volunteering is one of the key activities of the project ‘To My Future’. Mentors and volunteers share their life experience, helping teenagers cared for to understand their desires, and instruct them on the path to achieving their dreams and professional development on their own. Therefore, the participation in the international conference of volunteering researchers is a significant step towards promoting mentoring as an important component of social adaptation.”
