The State Lermontov Museum-Reserve “Tarkhany”

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation is a partner of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture, The State Lermontov Museum-Reserve “Tarkhany”.

Tarkhany (today — Lermontovo village) was the former estate of E.A. Arsenieva, the grandmother of the great Russian poet, writer and painter. This was a place where Lermontov spent a good part of his very brief but very fruitful life. Today, the Museum-Reserve houses the largest collection dedicated to the life and work of Mikhail Lermontov. It holds an extensive collection of the poet’s personal belongings, his original paintings and life-time editions of his prose and poetry. Combining all types of cultural heritage, from memorial exhibitions, to notable architectural monuments and beautiful natural landscapes, the State Lermontov Museum-Reserve “Tarkhany” is a nature-architecture ensemble, an open-air museum that celebrates the park-and-estates culture and the country-house living of the 19th century Russia.

Every year, the Museum-Reserve is visited by over 200 thousand tourists.

The Foundation assisted the Museum-Reserve to organise an entire series of events to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Lermontov.
