The Deaf-blind Support Fund So-edinenie

The Deaf-blind Support Fund So-edinenie was established at the meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives chaired by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The decision was necessitated by the fact that regardless rich historical experience and achievements in recent decades people with deafblindness in Russia have not had the attention of the authorities and society.

Deafblindness is a unique disability making those with the condition some of the most vulnerable people in society with a limited capacity for living independently, navigating public spaces, accessing education, communicating, and integrating into the workforce. Furthermore, no precise statistics on people with deafblindness in Russia are currently available; their needs are not registered and support programs are not systemic.

So, the Fund’s mission is to liaise between the world of deaf-blind people and the world of people who can see and hear, to develop successful integrated solutions and practices enabling people with deafblindness to express themselves and to integrate into society.

The Fund carries out a number of programs: Informed society, Education and science, Enabling technologies, Social rehabilitation and integration, and World, Society and Family.

The Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation has been cooperating with The Deafblind Support Fund since 2014 and has supported a number of major projects:
